How To Place a Beam C-Clamp

  1. Select one of the two Beam C-Clamp options from the Support Hardware palette.
    • Beam C-Clamp
    • Beam C-Clamp (Offset Rod)
  2. Select the beam the clamp will be placed on and right-click to confirm.
    Note: the beam c-clamps for lighter duty applications and may not fit on heavier gage steel beams.
  3. (Optional) Select the reference pipe for the clamp or right-click for placement along the beam.
  4. In the Properties dialog, click in the Primary Size field and select an option from the grid.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Path Placement dialog, define the following options:
    • Attach By: Defines the point used to connect the clamp to the beam.
    • Attach To: Defines which flange the clamp will be mounted to. As you make a selection you will see the image of the clamp move to the different flange locations.
  7. Use the Rotation fields to adjust the rotation of the clamp as necessary so it is orientated correctly in relation to the flange.
  8. Determine the placement position along the length of the beam using either the mouse or the Distance field in the dialog above.
  9. If using a defined distance, be sure is Relative to the correct starting location on the flange. If using the Reference option, you will be prompted to pick a reference point to use.
  10. If using the mouse, slide the clamp along the beam to the correct location and left click to select the location and again to confirm the placement.
